FAQ

Should I contact my insurance company first if my business sustains property damage?

Your insurance company would rather you call a commercial restoration company like Mardenas SnapResponseTeam™ as soon as possible to start cleaning up the water and fixing the damage it caused.

If possible, turn off any water valves you can access. Call a plumber to fix the leak, if applicable, but the faster our crews arrive, the more damage we can help prevent on your commercial property. You should still call your insurance company, but don't wait for an adjuster to arrive before beginning water damage mitigation.

If you plan to file a claim, the insurance adjuster will need an assessment of the damage and a restoration estimate. Calling Mardena speeds up the process.

Should I file a claim with my insurance company?
We cannot tell you whether to file a claim or not. You’ll need to evaluate how the claim will affect your premiums before deciding to file. It’s important to talk to your insurance company so you understand how they handle claims on your policy.
Do you have experience working with insurance companies?

Absolutely, we utilize Xactimate estimating software, which is a leading industry-trusted program that is widely accepted and preferred by insurance companies.

Insurance companies like State Farm, Allstate, Erie, Chubb, and Farmers use Xactimate to see how contractors perform their work. They must ensure that the repair and rebuilding costs are priced at their proper market value.

At Mardena, we ensure that all our in-house estimators are certified in Xactimate. This training gives them the skills they need to make estimates for our customers that are as detailed as possible.

If my water pipes burst in the middle of the night, can I really call and talk to someone?

Oh yes. We answer our phones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will speak directly to management when you call–not a recording. Call us any time, day or night, at 424-222-1544.

When you say "90 minute emergency response time," does that really mean 90 minutes?

In most cases, yes, that’s true. But because our service area is so large (it’s the Southern California area), some locations may take longer for our SnapResponseTeam™ to arrive on-site. All of our inspections and estimates are free of charge.

What’s the deal with the “Dry In-Place” service?

We provide “dry In-Place” service to our customers. In-Place Drying utilizes state-of-the-art technology to completely dry out the affected areas, minimizing the damage and removal of any building products. Our goal is to save as much material as possible.

This service reduces the amount of material that will need to be replaced, which in turn reduces the repair cost to the customer.

Which is more expensive? Gutting or “Dry In-Place?”
While gutting all wet materials is much easier and faster, it significantly increases the cost to restore and build back. The cost of In-Place drying is a fraction of the staggering price tag customers have to pay when they build everything back up.
Do you provide any kind of air purification?

To remove odors caused by fire, sewage, bacterial growth, and other sources, we use advanced filtration technologies, including HEPA filtration when necessary. This system removes 99.7% of particles larger than 0.3 microns from the air.

Will I have to hire a third party to repair the damage to my property?
No, not if you contact Mardena Construction. Our clients never have to deal with multiple contractors and vendors. Mardena offers complete 360° service on every project. We handle every aspect of restoring property to pre-loss condition. Most restoration companies do not oversee the entire project from beginning to end, but we do.
Is it necessary for me to keep track of non-restorable items?
Yes, we recommend that you make a list of all items that cannot be restored (including food and household goods). You can make a simple list with the item name, quantity, and value, or ask your insurance company if they have a form. Make two copies: one for your insurance company and one for yourself.
Can you bill my insurance company on my behalf?

Yes! We work with all adjusters and insurance companies. Mardena will work closely with your insurance provider to ensure that you receive the necessary settlement and repair work as soon as possible.

Insurance companies can easily process the paperwork because we use insurance-industry software and our team has IICRC industry training. To put it another way, we speak their language, which reduces confusion and inefficient "back and forth."

How long does water restoration take?

This is determined by the severity and category of the disaster damage, or if the area was supersaturated or the water was contaminated. Rest assured that Mardena's SnapResponseTeam™ will work quickly to remove the water.

Can water damage cause mold to grow?
Absolutely. Water is one of the essential ingredients for mold growth. If you have water damage in your business and do not extract the water and properly dry the affected area in a timely manner, mold growth could occur within 48 hours.
How long does the water extraction and removal process take?
The procedure for removing the water will vary depending on the size of the property, the amount of extra water, and other factors. Mardena is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will dispatch a project manager as soon as possible to assess the damage and devise a plan for water mitigation and restoration services.
What should I do if my establishment is flooded?
If your place of business has been flooded, please turn off the gas and electricity before entering. Gather your personal belongings once the area has been declared safe so that water extraction experts can enter your building and remove the water.
What happens after everything dries up?
Repairs may be required after the damage has been mitigated. We are a full-service contractor who can handle all of your repairs. Your commercial or industrial property will be in excellent condition when we leave.
Can Mardena Construction handle the project from start to finish?
Yes, Mardena can handle any water damage, fire damage, mold damage, or restoration or construction project for your business or commercial property from start to finish. We have a skilled construction team ready to rebuild when you are ready.
Do I have to shut down my business?
Repairs do not have to disrupt business operations. Mardena Construction offers dependable short-term solutions that allow you to continue serving your customers while we repair your building.
What is non-insured work?

Some items may be excluded from your insurance coverage. Estimates and the scope of work covered by an insurance claim are typically established by your claim's adjuster and represent the amount your insurance company agrees to pay.

We will work with your insurance adjuster to ensure that your claim is processed correctly. We can also assist you with changes and upgrades, but any amount that exceeds the insurance scope of work is considered non-insured work and will be handled under a separate agreement.

Do I have to remove my belongings from the premises?
While some items on the property may need to be removed, this is not always the case. If your personal belongings need to be relocated while repairs are being made, rest assured that Mardena is experienced in pack-out procedures. We'll look after your belongings and return them when the space is ready.
What exactly is fire damage recovery?
Mardena offers comprehensive fire damage restoration services. Cleaning and removing soot and smoke damage, making structural repairs, and cleaning and protecting your company's belongings are all part of this. Many fire losses are accompanied by water and chemical losses from firefighting efforts, and we offer water damage cleanup, drying, and restoration services.
Is it safe to return to my business or home after a fire?
We strongly advise you not to stay out of your business or home after a fire. Aside from the concerns about smoke inhalation, fire and smoke significantly weaken structures, putting them at risk of collapse. Wait until the area has been deemed safe and cleared by Mardena Construction and any potential city officials.
What exactly is "board-up service"?

Your property is left exposed and vulnerable to theft and additional damage after a fire. To protect your business, merchandise, and possessions from theft and looting, we board up windows and doors and secure any openings. We offer board-up services around the clock to protect your property after a fire and throughout the restoration process.

Is it possible to remove smoke odor?

Yes! After removing all soot from your property's walls, carpets, furniture, and other damaged contents, our fire restoration team deodorizes it to permanently remove the odor of smoke.

What is mold remediation?

Mold remediation is the process of completely removing mold, removing odors, sanitizing the area, and restoring healthy air quality in your business or home.

How long does it take to remove mold completely?

It all depends on the size and location of the mold infestation within your business. Mold removal estimates are given on a case-by-case basis, so providing a time frame is difficult. It's also a bit misleading to say "completely remove mold."

Mold is a naturally occurring organism with over 100,000 different types, some of which are always present in trace amounts. We remove mold from your home, commercial property, or business to return it to pre-damage or "healthy" conditions. Because of the complexities of mold types, there is no recognized "safe level" of mold.

Also, keep in mind that bleach does not remove mold. It simply removes the visible color from the mold. It is critical to remove it from the source. We attack the mold from all sides and remove it as quickly as possible.

What does reconstruction mean?

Reconstruction is the process of returning a building to a previously known pre loss condition by introducing new materials.
